Failté!

Did you know that, in the whole world, there are an estimated 1.2 million speakers of the Irish language?  And that almost 40% of the people living in Ireland actually speak Irish!?

When I was growing up, I learned that Irish was a dead language. When I visited Ireland in 1976 and again in 1988 and 1989, there was little around to tell me otherwise. To be fair, I stayed mostly in Dublin and the Irish speaking communities (Gaeltacht) are mostly in Donegal, Connemara, and Kerry. So let’s add that to the list of things I have had to “unlearn”: Irish is still an active language in many parts of Ireland and with many of my friends here.

Celebrating An Ghaeilge

Empowering YOU to be a high-impact leader with your WHOLE HEART! That is my mission.  And thanks to the Gaillimh le Gaeilge, I am bringing my mission work into the heart of Galway and Connemara, with some Irish (beyond my name and roots)!

And while I am told daily by my daughter and her friends that Duolingo will teach me all the wrong ways to speak Irish, I’m still practicing everyday, hoping to surprise some of my Irish speaking friends…  I will keep you updated on that as it is possible to be a more comedic moment.

We are honoured to be featured in the Galway Advertiser last Thursday (see page 45 under Gnó Ar Líne / Online Business) as a nominee for the Gradam (awards).

Stay tuned for the integration of some Irish into our website and other communications.

Check us out on pages 44-45 along with a number of other local businesses who are committed to serving the Irish and the Irish speaking communities! #GradamGleG
