Learn More

In this training, based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown and her Dare To Lead™ program, we support entrepreneurs, business owners, leaders and organizations use vulnerability to their advantage.

Brené Brown defines vulnerability as “taking a risk when the outcome is uncertain and there’s potential for emotional exposure”. I will guide you to embrace your own vulnerabilities as the starting point for creativity, innovation, change, and developing deeper connections. In other words, I will teach you the skills you need to lead with your whole heart AND have the impact you desire.

Designed to build practical, measurable skills for your work, team and life, this programming covers the daring leadership and practical courage building skillset of Dare to Lead™, based on the empirical research of Brené Brown and her bestselling books.

In 2019, MaryPat Kavanagh, was taught by Brené in person and she is part of a global community of Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitators accredited to facilitate this curriculum.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I prepare for this program?2025-09-24T09:10:34+00:00

We will address any questions you have during our introduction and mentoring sessions. However, this program is designed to meet you where you are at. There are a few prep tools that may be helpful, especially if you are not familiar with Brené Brown and her teachings:

The Power of Vulnerability

Listening To Shame

These concepts are the foundation of our work here. Enjoy!

How much time should I plan to do the work during this program?2025-09-24T09:10:38+00:00

Your time during the program will be spent learning the concepts. The time spent practicing the concepts is up to you. It will be dependent on your participation in hard moments, decision making, team connection and showing up as your best self. The programming is designed around practice. Doing the practice may take a little extra time and energy. But it will get better as you continue. I’m confident that, if you are still reading this, you are meant to be here. You’ve got this! (so not really a lot of extra time outside the classes).

What do I need to bring with me?2025-09-24T09:10:41+00:00
  • Invest in your favorite writing utensils and a nice notebook. Understand how you process and learn. Make sure you have the tools you need to increase your success. You will be uncomfortable. So let’s make it fun!
  • For me, I love a variety of gel pens and a moleskin notebook. I like to draw pictures while I’m processing, take notes in different colors, and sometimes stickers even make their way into my books. What would help to increase YOUR learning so that you can find some fun in the process?
I want to be a facilitator like you. Will this program teach me what I need?2025-09-24T09:10:47+00:00

I’m honored but becoming certified to facilitate and/or coach the Dare To Lead™ programming is currently limited. However, DOING THE WORK is the most important part. And this program WILL support you on this journey! We can chat more about what you can and cannot do with your Dare To Lead™ Training to continue to improve this great world!

Where Should I Stay2025-09-24T09:29:03+00:00

We will be sharing options after the reservation is confirmed.

Which airport should I fly in to?2025-09-24T09:28:59+00:00

The Shannon Airport is closest, about a 90 minute car ride or a 2 hour bus ride (we take the bus). However, the Dublin airport is much larger and provides more options. The Dublin Airport to Galway buses run every 30-60 minutes and are the best option for transportation.

Brandon Hill

“The workshop completely changed the way I look at what it means, and takes, to be a “successful” business owner. I now have a completely new and usable set of tools that will make my life as a business owner much easier!”

Brandon Hill, Owner, Mountain Standard Time Marketing, Utah
Liz Graham

“Through the Dare to Lead training with MaryPat I learned that when I armor up and avoid hard conversations, I diminish my ability to be a good leader within my organization. Since the training, I have found that the more clear, kind, and brave I can be as a leader, the more my teammates rise to the occasion to show up as positive, brave, and kind leaders as well. With this knowledge and practice, our team and business is flourishing!”

Liz Graham, Program Manager & Program Facilitator, Mindful Littles, California
Maria O'Donovan

“I completed the Dare to Lead training with MaryPat Kavanagh together with my 4 employees. I found the training to be invaluable and it has really helped my communication with my team.”

About The Dare To Lead Program

dare-to-lead-brene-brown-marypat

Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage building program designed to be facilitated by organizational development professionals.

The most significant finding from Brené’s latest research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable. The Dare to Lead™ program focuses on developing these courage building skills through workshops, trainings, and coaching to help individuals, teams, and organizations move from armored leadership to daring leadership.

Individuals who successfully complete the full 24-hour Dare to Lead™ program will receive a certificate of completion and are allowed to put the Dare to Lead Trained badge on their LinkedIn account.
